Well, what can I say? After almost two years of being pushed by my younger brother, after months of rolling my eyes every time I heard his mouth producing any word that started with “bl…” and after even more excuses, I finally gave in and decided to give this blogging thing a try. I guess you could say that my initial reluctance came from a place of fear…fear that I wouldn’t know what to say and even if I did, would people care. Even deeper than that was the question of whether I was ready to be completely open, honest, and transparent with the world about MY LIFE…MY STORY! So with a little fear sitting to my left and lots of excitement and optimism sitting to my right…
WELCOME to my “Dee Big Picture” blogging page and my very first post!
A few months ago I celebrated another birthday, which means that I am another year closer to my epitaph (hopefully no time soon). I said that to say that at this point in my life, I have no desire, nor the time to do things, just to be doing something. Everything that I do, I try to do with a purpose and a plan. Therefore, this blogging journey will be no different. The purpose of my blogs will be to inspire, encourage and challenge my readers (and myself) to truly be present in this life and LIVE, not just merely survive. My hope is that my blogs challenge your mind, provoke thought, and inspire you to look at “DEE Big Picture” by expanding your perception of life. On this journey of self-reflection and self-discovery, my prayer is that you will begin to see how God allowed your life experiences (the good and the bad) to bring you to RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW to this very MOMENT…reading my first blog post (smile)!
I am sure you have heard the saying, “Life is a journey.” Well, it is true…life is a journey. I don’t know many people who would travel to an unfamiliar place without directions or a GPS to help them find the way, so why should life be any different? Isn’t reaching your destination in life even more important than reaching a temporary location? However, many people spend their lives living like nomads, moving from one place to another, one situation to another, one relationship to another and one job to another (you get the point) without any clear direction or plans. And guess what…if you don’t know where you’re going, you’re likely already there!
The unfortunate part is that we often just let life happen and do with us as it pleases. We go through life experiencing the good and the bad. We fail to reflect on those experiences and turn them into life lessons that we can use to lead us to our purpose, propel us into our destinies, as well as help to prevent others from choosing the same paths we chose and hitting the some of the same roadblocks that flattened our tires along the way. We continue to allow ourselves to stay stuck in our limiting beliefs, bad habits, fear, regret, painful memories, mistakes, failures, and sometimes apathetic attitude to hold us back from the amazing life that we were created to live. If this is you, then I have news for you…

You have the POWER TO TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE and CREATE the life that you have only dreamed of.
There is a quote that reads, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” Well, if you are ready, allow me to be your teacher (or should I say Coach), and teach you how to be a student of your own life and began to re-write the rest of your story into one that you would be proud to read aloud.
I hope that you will join me on this blogging journey, as I share my thoughts, my journey, and my personal (sometimes jaw-dropping) experiences with you, in hopes that something that I post will help to UPLIFT your heart, REJUVENATE your mind, ENCOURAGE your life and INSPIRE your journey.
